East Allen County Schools is looking to hire Executive Director of Alternative and Career and Technical Education Department: Administration Reports To: Superintendent SUMMARY Directs and coordinates educational, administrative, and operational activities at the Alternative School.
Responsible for all aspects of the district career and technical education program and facilities.
Coordinates the objectives of the Career and technical education with the Alternative High School program.
Serves as instructional leader in the development and improvement of instructional programs in career and technical education.
Serves as the liaison between the school and the business community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinates CTE activities, schedules, and programs with all participating schools Provide career exploration and awareness resources and testing materials Establish student admission criteria for each career and technology program Builds close relationships with business, industry, and educational leaders in the region to ensure that the programs meet the needs of the community Articulate the district's mission and goals in career and technology education to community and solicit its support Provides leadership in curriculum and program development and utilizes business and industry input through technical advisory committees.
Identify and define local job opportunities for students Leads the development, adoption and implementation of curriculum for the program Establishes and maintains relationships with post-secondary schools, educational organizations, and other schools to coordinate educational services and staff and curriculum development Directs preparation of class schedules, cumulative records, and attendance reports Participate in recruitment, selection, and training of personnel Works with Assistant Superintendent to recommend supplementary textbooks, which are not on the state textbook list Collaborates with the guidance departments to provide career planning activities and programs Facilitate technology integration, information, communication, and training for students, staff, community and business leaders Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and that findings are used to make career and technology programs more effective Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to gauge program effectiveness Compile, maintain, file, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required Implement the policies established by federal and state law Knowledgeable of all licensing requirements Administer the career and technology budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and that the funds are managed prudently Participate in resource development and grant writing Evaluates teachers and other staff members Coordination/review of employee reprimands, discipline, discharge, contract non-renewals, layoff, and reductions in force Monitors the effectiveness and appropriateness of the program; and acts upon recommendations as appropriate, for the refinement of the program Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluate the performance of all personnel assigned to the school EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Master's degree in Education Administration or business with at least five years classroom or business management experience SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common educational journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with diverse clientele.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the educational community.
Ability to effectively present information to management, teachers, public groups, and/or board of school trustees.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations as it pertains to staffing buildings.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and data collected from building principals.
Ability to work on multiple tasks. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Indiana Administrator License preferred.
