The Mortgage Loan Officer works with Members to obtain a mortgage. The Mortgage Loan officer will discuss Members needs and wants, then determine what they are eligible for. They will Counsel members and take mortgage loan applications that meet credit union, PMI and investor guidelines. The Mortgage Loan officer will use underwriting software to determine whether a Member is mortgage-worthy and a good credit risk for the Credit Union. They will also conduct in-depth interviews with members directly and by telephone to obtain all necessary information for making Mortgage Loan decisions. Will make sound credit decisions regarding the approval of Mortgage loans to ensure the lowest element of risk. Generate referral business, leads, and relationships with Members, Individuals and Real Estate Professionals.
Participate in training for marketing, sales, and scenario techniques to effectively sell, package, and close mortgages. Provides guidance and answers questions for prospective loan applicants. Generates fully completed and accurate loan packages to members for signatures which includes the application, loan estimates and any or all required disclosures. Generates loan estimates within Federal required timelines. Review documentation such as W2’s, pay check stubs, tax returns, bank or credit union statements to ensure that the information coincides with initial mortgage application and resolves any issues after such review.
Must have NMLS number issued by the State of Indiana. Maintains education requirements as set forth by the SAFE Act and/or other applicable regulations. Cross-train and back up department when needed. Other duties as assigned.
